The Wegovy
Deception

Wegovy® is not registered with NAFDAC. It has no distribution in Nigeria. Yet scammers are charging Nigerians millions for counterfeit labels slapped on generic vials. This is the full story.

The Facts

Exhibit A

No NAFDAC Registration

Wegovy does not appear in the NAFDAC Green Book of registered pharmaceuticals. No registration number exists. No import permits have been issued. Novo Nordisk has no authorized distribution channels in Nigeria for this product. Period.

Exhibit B

Same Drug, Different Label

Wegovy® and Ozempic® are both semaglutide. Identical molecules. The only difference is marketing: one is positioned for weight loss, the other for diabetes. Neither brand is officially sold in Nigeria. What you see on shelves is relabeled.

Exhibit C

The 2,000% Markup

Scammers purchase compounded semaglutide for a fraction of what they charge, slap a counterfeit Wegovy® label on it, and sell it to Nigerians at massively inflated prices. That is not business. That is fraud at pharmaceutical scale.

Every single unit of "Wegovy" sold in Nigeria is either counterfeit or relabeled generic semaglutide being sold at a criminal markup.

Section Two

The Scam, Exposed

How the counterfeit Wegovy® pipeline works in Nigeria

1

Acquire Cheap Generic Semaglutide

The scammer purchases compounded semaglutide—the same molecule used in branded medications—from wholesale sources at a fraction of what they will ultimately charge.

2

Procure Generic Injection Pens

Empty injection pen devices are cheap, standard medical supplies available from any distributor.

3

Print Counterfeit Packaging

Professional-grade Wegovy® labels and outer packaging are printed locally. Holograms, batch numbers, serial codes—all convincingly replicated.

4

Sell at Massively Inflated Prices

The "Wegovy" branding commands extreme markups. Consumers, desperate and uninformed, pay many times what the medication actually costs. The profit margin is staggering.

The Uncomfortable Truth

Even in the "best" case—where the relabeled product contains actual semaglutide—you are still paying a 2,000% markup for a counterfeit label. In the worst case, you are injecting an unknown substance.

No Cold-Chain Guarantee

Semaglutide requires refrigeration at 2–8°C. Counterfeit products pass through unrefrigerated supply chains. Degraded medication means reduced efficacy and potential harm.

Unknown Dosing

Without pharmaceutical-grade quality control, the actual semaglutide concentration in counterfeit products is anyone's guess. Too little does nothing. Too much is dangerous.

Zero Legal Recourse

If something goes wrong, you have no consumer protection. You purchased an unregistered, counterfeit product from an unlicensed seller. No refund. No lawsuit. No accountability.

Paying massively inflated prices for "Wegovy" in Nigeria means paying many times the actual cost for a label that was printed in the same city you live in.

Section Three

Understanding Compounded Semaglutide

You do not need "Wegovy." What you need is semaglutide—the active ingredient inside both Wegovy® and Ozempic®. Pharmaceutical-grade compounded semaglutide contains the identical molecule, prepared under strict quality controls, and available through legitimate channels in Nigeria at a fraction of the cost.

GLP-1 receptor agonist therapies have shown significant weight loss results in published clinical literature. The molecule does not know or care what label is on the box. What matters is purity, proper storage, correct dosing, and medical supervision.

When sourced from a verified compounding pharmacy with documented cold-chain logistics and doctor oversight, compounded semaglutide delivers on every front—without the counterfeit risk and without the predatory pricing.

Pharmaceutical-Grade Quality

Prepared under strict compounding standards with verified purity and potency testing.

Cold-Chain Delivery

Refrigerated logistics from pharmacy to your door. Medication potency preserved throughout.

Doctor Consultation

Medical guidance for dosing, monitoring, and safe use included with every treatment plan.

Nationwide Delivery

Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and every state across Nigeria. Delivered to your door.

Questions & Answers

The Debrief

No. Wegovy® (branded semaglutide by Novo Nordisk) is not registered with NAFDAC and has no official distribution in Nigeria. Any seller claiming to have "authentic Wegovy" is either selling a counterfeit product or relabeled generic semaglutide at inflated prices. Compounded semaglutide—the same active ingredient—is available through legitimate pharmacies.

They contain the exact same active ingredient: semaglutide. Wegovy® is marketed for weight loss at higher doses; Ozempic® is marketed for Type 2 diabetes. The molecule is identical. Neither brand is officially distributed in Nigeria.

Scammers typically charge massively inflated prices for relabeled "Wegovy." Legitimate compounded semaglutide—the identical active ingredient—is available at a fraction of what scammers charge from verified pharmacies. The markup is extreme.

Yes. The active molecule is identical—semaglutide is semaglutide regardless of branding. GLP-1 receptor agonist therapies have shown significant weight loss results in published clinical literature. What determines outcomes is the quality of compounding, proper cold-chain storage, correct dosing, and medical supervision.

You cannot, because they do not. Novo Nordisk has no authorized distribution channels in Nigeria. Any seller claiming to have "authentic Wegovy" is lying. Rather than chasing a brand name, focus on sourcing pharmaceutical-grade semaglutide from verified compounding pharmacies with documented quality controls.
